Still no funds available for printing ballot paper
COLOMBO, News 1st; The Government Printer reports that funds are still not available for printing ballot papers.
A senior officer stated that it was impossible to begin the printing process in the current context.
Ballot paper has been received for postal voting in 17 districts.
According to the Government Printer the previous election date was printed onto these ballot papers.
According to the Government Printer, the Election Commission will be consulted regarding amending the ballot papers.
The Election Commission claims that the Government Printer has not yet communicated to the Election Commission about the delay in printing the ballot papers.
News 1st was informed by Attorney Nimal Punchihewa, Chairman of the Election Commission, that the commission can meet to decide on the matter if it is sent in an official communication.
The secure packages containing ballot papers for postal vote are expected to arrive at Postal Services by the 21st March.
