Atomic Heart Development A Mess, Game Files Leaked

Atomic Heart has had its share of problems. Although the game was a long-awaited title due to the impressive gameplay presentations and showcases, DTF.ru has recently reported new details about the game and its development which have caused many to question their reliability.

The DTF.ru report showed clearly how mismanaged Atomic Heart’s development was and still is, and how it is the victim of overambition.

The risk of the game being accessed online has added fuel to the fire. Reddit user CamurAtes created a post stating that they possess the game’s files, while asking fellow Redditors what to do with the files, and many suggesting to leak them.

Here are some of the major takeaways

  • Atomic Heart’s development was a chaotic chaos.
  • One person could have the entire game files and leak them.
  • This game could be a disaster, and it is not what was shown to the public.

Since its announcement, Atomic Heart has been a hit with gamers and the entire industry. It looked amazing, not only visually but also in gameplay demos.

This game was an interesting mix of Metro games and BioShock games. It featured amazing environments, enemies, multiple gameplay mechanics and an intriguing world.

Recently the game’s release date was also revealed via a release date trailer which stated that Atomic Heart is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Game Pass on February 21, 2023.

Recent information on the game suggests that there may be a new story to tell. The game could be delayed or released in a different way than what people expected.

DTF.ru reports that the game’s development was marred by severe mismanagement. Many milestones and dates were not reached due to poor testing and management, especially in the case of the console version.

Robert Bagratuni was a key figure in the project’s development and an investor.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, so I believe we should forgo primitive pleasures like vacations and weekends in favor of the project. We will reimburse with bonuses to the NG that will amaze your imagination.”

There was a severe financial crunch during the development of Atomic Heart. The promised bonuses were not given and the developers may not have been motivated to complete the project.

Furthermore, developers were forced to accelerate the development through multiple stages. They were also inconvenienced due to meetings at irregular times and many other deviations.

This is just a small part of the problems that have plagued this game. The game’s development builds would be presented annually to investors, which led to significant demands for changes to the project.

Atomic Heart’s gameplay trailers were apparently created as vertical slices rather than being taken from a working version of the game. This gave the impression that the game was polished to the audience.

DTF.ru reports that the entire Art department of the game departed the company in 2020. At some point, the entire QA staff also left. It is possible that the person who has the game files may have been part of the old QA team, or could even be part of the new one.

After the departure of the QA staff, Mundfish hired several contractors and interns to perform QA. It is very much plausible that as a result of such haphazard management the person in possession of the game’s files is from the team.

Some images of their playthrough were shared by the individual. Another person stated that they had played the first 30 minutes of this game, and found it boring.

The comment was deleted. It stated that the first thirty minutes would be comparable to a walking simulator.

CamurAtes stated the following when asked by a user regarding the performance of this game:

Atomic Heart files leaked performance
The comment regarding the performance of the game on a RTX 3080 has been removed.

While today’s games are quite taxing, especially while using Ultra graphics presets, a powerful GPU such as Nvidia’s RTX 3080 should be able to maintain Atomic Heart at 60FPS especially in 1080p and with DLSS, however, Ray Tracing may also be severely affecting the game’s performance.

Or it could be an unoptimized mess, but CamurAtes does state in another comment that they expect the game’s performance to be better when it releases.

Since the user has only played about 30 minutes of the game, it could mean that they are a new hire, or that the game’s files were leaked and have somehow found their way to a civilian who was not even involved with the game’s development.

We hope this doesn’t happen and that the game is indeed the fantastic product many had hoped for. Not only for those who have been waiting impatiently for it to come out, but also for the developers who have put so much into it.
